You might be facing severe hail damage, storm damage, wind and hail damage, or other structural damage to your home from a storm. Whatever the case, you have a right to expect your insurance company not to delay, deny, or underpay your claim. You paid your premiums, now the insurance company should promptly and fully pay your claim.
Your insurance company, however, doesn’t seem to agree. In this, your greatest time of need, they seem interested in anything but paying your claim in a timely fashion. It’s just not fair: The insurance company has a legal—not to mention a moral—obligation to promptly pay your property damage claim in full.
The Pennebaker Law Firm specializes in:
If you’ve filed a valid property damage claim on your homeowner’s or business insurance policy that was denied or underpaid, Pennebaker Law can help. We can provide you with the resources and experience to fight back. And we’ll keep fighting until you are paid what you’re owed.
At Pennebaker Law, we know the maneuvers insurance companies employ to delay, deny, or underpay valid claims. And we know how to overcome those maneuvers. Many times, we know what insurance companies will do before they do it, and we respond accordingly. We will meticulously build your case, attending to every relevant detail.
And although we know that many clients prefer to resolve their cases without trial, we’re not afraid to go to court if required. We know the right questions to ask when cross examining insurance company witnesses—questions they don’t want to answer, questions that will uncover bad faith insurance practices. We are absolutely committed to fighting for fairness on your behalf. And we won’t stop fighting until you get it.
Much of the frustration people feel when filing a property damage claim with an insurance company stems from being treated like files, not human beings. The last thing they need is to be treated the same way by the property damage lawyer they choose to advocate for them. At Pennebaker Law, we will never treat you like a number or a file—guaranteed. We believe in personal relationships—in partnerships. We not only want to know your story, we will work tirelessly to make sure it comes to a happy ending—an ending where your insurance company pays what you are owed in full.
At Pennebaker Law, we also handle Life Insurance disputes. Have you been hit and injured by an uninsured or an underinsured motorist? Pennebaker Law also deals in personal injury cases arising from accidents caused by uninsured or underinsured drivers.

Before founding Pennebaker Law, Douglas E. Pennebaker spent 19 years as an insurance defense lawyer. During those years, he gained vital insights into the ways insurance companies do business and handle claims. He founded Pennebaker Law in 2012 for the exclusive purpose of helping policyholders who’ve been mistreated by their insurance companies. In the ensuing years, Pennebaker Law has handled literally thousands of Bad Faith Insurance lawsuits.
Through all those cases, Mr. Pennebaker has gained an ever-deepening understanding of insurance company tactics for denying and/or underpaying valid insurance claims. You might say he knows insurance company tactics inside and out. He is a property damage lawyer who knows how to beat insurance companies at their own game.
If you feel like you’ve been mistreated by your insurance company, give us a call. We handle most kinds of property damage cases, including claims involving:
If you are a small-business owner, your business is more than just your livelihood. You’ve put so many hours building it, invested so much money into it. You may have sacrificed time with your family. You may have been extremely frugal with personal spending, too, denying yourself certain luxuries over the years in pursuit of growing your small-business dreams into a thriving reality.
Then comes a storm like the one that pounded San Antonio and much of South Texas with hail in April 2016. You’re understandably traumatized by the damage to your business, but you’ve no reason to think your insurance company won’t take care of you and your family. You’ve faithfully paid your premiums for years, after all, and feel like you’ve got a good rapport with your insurance agent. Only that’s not quite the way it works out. If this story sounds familiar, you need the insight of an experienced property damage lawyer in your corner. Pennebaker Law can help.
Most people will never make a single bigger investment in their lifetimes than the one they make in their home. When you include the cost and time of remodels and repairs, that investment balloons even further. For most people, however, the cost is worth the rewards. A home is far more than the sum of its four walls and roof, and its mortgage balance. A home is about family; it’s about memories and sharing and quality time together. It’s about the good times and bad. It’s about having shelter from the storms of life—the literal and the figurative.
If your home is damaged in a storm, it may well feel like a member of your family has been injured. If your insurance company delays, denies, or underpays your valid property damage claim, it probably comes as just one more blow to your family; it may well feel like the company is adding the proverbial “insult to injury.”
Know this: You don’t have to put up with it. Pennebaker Law will fight to make your home—your family—whole again. We know how insurance companies do business. We know how the industry works. We will create a cast-iron case on your behalf, giving the insurance company no wiggle room to deny you what you’re owed.
In legal terms, bad faith insurance is referred to as “breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing.” In essence, what this means is that, by delaying, denying, or underpaying a valid claim, an issuing company may well be in breach of the insurance contract. A breach of contract might also be categorized as “bad faith claims handling.” This is when you need a property damage lawyer on your side who knows the insurance business. You need Pennebaker Law.
Whether your business or personal property has sustained wind and hail damage, hurricane damage, or tornado damage, if your insurance company is refusing to pay what you’re due, Pennebaker Law can help. Don’t accept less than you are legally due. When your insurance company first starts treating you like the enemy, it may well come as a shock. We see it all the time. Call us. We’ll help you sort it all out and make your insurance company pay. Your initial consultation is free.
If your home has been damaged by a wildfire, internal fire, or lightening, you might find your insurance company less-than-amenable to paying your claim. This, despite the fact you thought you had a good relationship with your agent. The problem? Your insurance agent has no affiliation whatsoever with the adjustor who handles your claim. This is not by accident. Agents represent the insurance company’s marketing arm, while adjustors are all about enhancing the bottom line—often to the detriment of policyholders. You need a seasoned property damage lawyer on your side who’s gone up against the insurance industry thousands of time, winning the majority of those cases. You need Pennebaker Law.
In recent years, there have been a number of examples of insurance companies doing everything possible to lowball their policyholders in the aftermath of a devastating hailstorm. No matter how strong you think your case is, your insurance company will probably find an excuse or a technicality for delaying, denying, or underpaying your claim.
Just ask the policyholders who sustained severe damage to their homes in the April 2016 South Texas hailstorm and or the March 2012 McAllen/Hidalgo County hailstorm. If you’re struggling with your insurance company and being treated unfairly over a valid property damage claim, need an experienced property damage lawyer like those at Pennebaker Law.
There are a number of ways your home can sustain internal water damage, most of them covered by your homeowner’s insurance policy:
If the inside of your home or business sustains these kinds of damage, your insurance company has an obligation to pay. Don’t let them drown you in technicalities or let them talk you into accepting less than you are owed. Call Pennebaker Law to consult with an experienced property damage lawyer.

Before going into law, Douglas E. Pennebaker graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1987, and served as a Field Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army. He was raised the son a cotton farmer in rural Mississippi. He was a partner with two other law firms before founding Pennebaker Law in 2012—both of them specializing in defending the Insurance Industry.
The insurance industry wasn’t happy when Mr. Pennebaker decided to switch sides, and even tried to prevent him from practicing at the plaintiff’s table. Fortunately for policyholders throughout South Texas, their efforts were unsuccessful. In Mr. Pennebaker, consumers have an advocate who deeply understands the internal workings of the insurance industry. He and Pennebaker Law put that knowledge to use every day on behalf of their clients.
Mr. Pennebaker is married to Karrie Ross-Pennebaker. She serves as comptroller for Pennebaker Law. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. Mr. and Mrs. Pennebaker have four children, ages 11, 19, 24, and 25.
